This past April, as a sizable portion of humanity paused to reflect during Easter, we were moved by the last message delivered by Pope Francis—one that resonates far beyond the bounds of any single faith. His homily, grounded in the Christian tradition, and in his profound humanity, offered a powerful call to all people: to embrace hope, renewal, and our shared humanity.
In his last homily read in St. Peter’s Basilica, hours before his passing, the Pope invited us to look beyond divisions, beyond despair, and beyond what holds us back. He called us to see the potential for life, dignity, and peace in every individual. In his words: “The Jubilee invites us to renew the gift of hope within us, to surrender our sufferings and our concerns to hope, to share it with those whom we meet along our journey and to entrust to hope the future of our lives and the destiny of the human family.”
An editorial in the Las Vegas Sun captured this beautifully, emphasizing Pope Francis not just as a religious leader, but as a model of compassionate leadership, humility, and service to others—qualities that unite rather than divide.
May we all strive to carry those same values in our work and relationships—with integrity in our chosen activity, humility in collaboration, and respect for the communities we serve. Whether we identify honoring a given religion or tradition, or no religion at all, we can all learn from the strength that comes not from power, but from compassion, listening, and service.
